Baby’s First Year Sessions

Timing:

During baby's first year I typically do a Sitter Session around the 7th month when baby can sit solidly unassisted. Then a Birthday Session, with a cake smash, when baby turns one. It is also common to add in a Smile Session around the 3rd month, when baby is holding their head up and smiling. If you have a newborn session with me, all other sessions during the first year are discounted, I can provide you with more details at your newborn session.

Scheduling:

Sessions should be scheduled as far in advance as possible as spots are limited. We can schedule all Baby's First Year Sessions at the newborn session, or schedule each one as we go.

Planning the Session:

Before your session I will send you a pre-session questionnaire. This will help me know your individual goals for the session, style preferences, ideas and anything else important you want to share with me.  As a photographer I believe firmly my job is to create images that truly represent you and your family (not just my style and my artistic vision). So I want the planning process to be a collaboration.

The entire family is welcome to be a part of these sessions. I actually  highly encourage it! Including parents, siblings, grandparents, and even fur babies can add more meaning and importance to your session and final images.

During the Session:

Having baby's favorite snacks and snuggle items on hand can be very helpful. Just like with a newborn session, there is always time for breaks and snuggles. Mom and/or Dad will stay nice and close to baby for this entire session, for safety, baby wrangling and since most babies experience some level of stranger anxiety. So be ready to get a work out!

I have a variety of outfits, diaper covers, headbands, hats and props we can use during the session. I also love when families bring items from home. This makes the session so much more personal and special.
