Timing:

The best time to schedule your maternity session varies with each woman. The main advice I give is that you want to have a nice round belly but still be able to move around comfortably. So normally between around the 7-8 months mark is a good time. But again, it depends on you and your body.

Scheduling:

To schedule I normally suggest calling me at least 4 weeks before you hope to schedule your session, this way I can make sure I have an opening for you.

Planning the Session:

Before your session I will send you a pre-session questionnaire. This will help me know your individual goals for the session, style preferences, ideas and anything else important you want to share with me.  As a photographer I believe firmly my job is to create images that truly represent you and your family (not just my style and my artistic vision). So I want the planning process to be a collaboration.

We will talk ahead of time about your personal comfort level. My maternity photography ranges from fully covered to semi-nudes. Everyone has a different modesty level, so I will make sure the session matches yours. I also can remove stretch marks and blemishes for mama's who may want to show off their belly but are hesitating due to stretch marks.

During the Session:

I have a variety of maternity gowns, fabric wraps, headbands and props we can use during the session. I also love when mama's bring items from home such as ultra sound photos, booties, a special stuffed animal or blanket. This makes the session so much more personal and special.

Also you are welcome to include family members in your session as well. Bringing your partner, other children, soon-to-be grandparents, or even fur babies can add another level of meaning to you session.
